PRODUCT QUESTIONS
What makes the THOMAS brand so different?
How do you measure club length?
We measure the length of a club with a golf club manufacturing ruler, where the club sits in a cradle from the sole of the club to the end of the shaft.
What is a golf club's lie angle?
The lie is the angle between the shaft and club head. The angle is adjusted to fit your height and wrist to floor measurement. This adjustment is made so the sole of the club lies flat on the ground. If the lie is not right it can cause the toe or heel to hit ground first and cause the head to turn resulting in a slice or hook. The lie angle is mostly important on traditional irons, and less so on clubs with rounded soles, like Hybrids and Fairway Woods.
Do you have Set or Bundle prices?
We used to only sell sets, but now to make things better for our customers, you can now select the exact clubs you want individually, yet still at the same price as if bought in a set.
What does "New Golf Clubs with Blemish" mean in your Clearance Department?
A blemish example is a scratch on the sole, but when we build the club, we will buff it out before we ship. Blemish clubs are always 100% functional and are backed by our 1 year warranty. Buying blemish is a very good way to save money, it just will not have the money back return option of a non-clearance club.
What can I expect when I buy a pre owned club?
Excellent condition pre-owned used golf clubs that have been hit, but show very little wear. They have been inspected and certified. Pre Owned clubs are not returnable but come with a 1 year warranty. The number of items in this section may be very limited, as THOMAS owners seldom send products back.
Other than shape, what is the difference between a square-head Hybrid vs a traditional-shape Hybrid?
Both models are specifically designed to perform exactly the same. The main difference between them is the look of the top back edge of the head, which can help with alignment. Since the performance of the two designs is identical, it just comes down to your personal preference on looks.
Where can I try THOMAS brand clubs before I buy?
To save you money, we do not sell through distributors or retailers, only direct to customers all over the world.
How do I order?
You can place your order online
HERE where you can select the product, specs, and shipping option you want, then pay by credit card or PayPal.
When will an item be back in stock?
Thomas Golf products are very popular, and due to the high demand we may occasionally temporarily be backordered on some items. We are not able to give estimates on dates they will be back on the website, so we recommend you bookmark that product page and continue checking thomasgolf.com every few days to grab the product once it is available.
Do you offer sets of "one-length" clubs?
Based on our testing and research we found more disadvantages than benefits in the single-length approach for the average golfer.
1. Making the short clubs like the 8, 9, and PW longer decreased consistent center face contact, and because of the lighter head weight, MOI testing was negative. We found most golfers, even the higher handicappers, were already were doing OK with the 8, 9 and PW at their standard lengths.
2. With the longer irons, we found major disadvantages. Clubs 5, 4, and 3 being made shorter with heavier head weights caused a decrease in swing speed, which lowered the ball flight distance. This also caused the ball to skip across, and not stop on the green, most profoundly on elevated greens. Please note this is less of a problem for the pro golfer because of their higher club swing speed, and the fact they do not need to use the longer irons in the same way as an amateur golfer.

WOODS
What clubs do you recommend for golfers with a sweeping swing?
You should replace all your Irons with Hybrids or Fairway Woods. We have successively developed replacements for each loft of iron, so that you can sweep the ball off the ground rather than hitting down and take divots.
Why do you offer high lofted woods?
The high lofted woods are a very good idea for golfers that like to sweep the ball off the ground rather than hitting down and taking divots.
Why do you have 2 different size head covers for the fairway woods?
The headcovers for Fairway Woods #2 to #11 have sock-style headcovers. #13 to #25 Woods have smaller Velcro strap covers to provide more room in your bag and allow the shorter shafted clubs to slide down farther.
HYBRIDS
How to choose between Hybrids or Fairway Woods?
For some golfers, they prefer the larger head of our fairway woods, because the size gives them confidence. Other golfers prefer the smaller head of a hybrid for coming out of the rough and the offset hosel is a lot like a standard iron. It will come down to a personal choice.
What distance should I expect from THOMAS brand Hybrids?
THOMAS Hybrids have the same loft and weight as THOMAS standard irons. The main reason for any difference in distance between our Irons and our Hybrids, is related to how they are used. With an iron, some golfers close and deloft their irons ...but due to the shape and sole of the Hybrids, golfers tend to maintain the natural loft of the club, and thus see more consistent and true ball height/distance.
Distance is also often different between different brands due to differences in club numbering. So the best way to match distance between brands is to look at the loft degree, club length, head weight and shaft flex.
THOMAS hybrids were tested on a machine and were found to be equal to our standard irons in distance, but they were more forgiving on off-center hits, and therefore produced higher average distance. Our hybrids are designed for accuracy, and we found that the most important factor is having a hybrid to cover all the distances you will need, in about 10-yard increments without any yardage gaps. In this way, you can pull the right club from your bag to match your next shot.
What are the advantages of the THOMAS 230cc Small-Head Hybrid Driver?
The 230cc hybrid driver is a very good choice for golfers that prefer a smaller head and a shorter shaft for more control.
What is a Hybrid Wedge?
We have tested our hybrid wedges and found them to be better out of grass then our standard irons, they seem to cut through the grass without getting hung up. Out of sand we found the hybrid SW to be much different then a standard SW iron. The hybrid SW requires no special set up, or club face or body opening, just set up for a normal shot and use a standard swing, hit about 1 inch behind the ball, then the only thing that needs to be learned is how hard to swing through the sand.
When our customers have concerns about our hybrid irons we highly recommend that they buy just one custom made hybrid, and when the test is complete you can buy more at the same price per club. This has worked out for many of our customers.
How do I use a Hybrid Wedge from the sand?
Out of the sand, you would use the hybrid SW much differently than a standard iron-style wedge. The hybrid SW requires no special set up, clubface or body opening ...just set up for a normal shot, aim the club at the target, and use a standard swing, hitting into the sand about 1 inch behind the ball. The only thing that you would need to get a feel for is how fast to swing through the sand.
What is a GW?
A GW iron is a Gap Wedge and it is a very important wedge that fits in distances between the PW and SW. It will hit about 5 to 10 yards less than a PW and about 5 to 10 yards longer than a SW.
IRONS
What is a GW?
A GW iron is a Gap Wedge. It is a very important wedge that fills in the distances gap between a PW and SW. It will hit about 5 to 10 yards less than a PW and about 5 to 10 yards longer than a SW.
PUTTERS
How do I measure myself for a mid length (Belly) putter?
Fitting Instructions for Custom Belly Putter
Items Needed:
* 2 People (Golfer to be fitted and assistant)
* Golfer's current putter
* Tape measure
* Quarter
Golfer addresses the quarter like he would a ball, and establishes his normal putting stance.
While Golfer holds this position, assistant takes putter away and uses a tape measure to
measure the distance from the Golfer's belly button to the middle of the quarter.
(You may want to repeat this process a couple times to be confident of your measurement)
How do I measure myself for a long putter?
Fitting Instructions for Custom Long Putter
Items Needed:
* 2 People (Golfer to be fitted and assistant)
* Tape measure
* Coin
Golfer takes a comfortable long-putter type stance, addressing the coin like he would a ball. (80 degree lie)
While Golfer holds this position, assistant uses a tape measure to measure the distance from where the Golfer would like the butt-end of the grip to rest, to the center of the coin. (not straight down)
(You may want to repeat this process a couple times to be confident of your measurement)
HYBRID CHIPPERS
What is a hybrid chipper?
When you order the hybrid chipper we add to the hybrid head a chipper adapter that adds extra weight (40 grams). This extra weight is needed to make it a chipper and the bend in the adapter converts the lie to the same lie as a putter, so you can use a more upright putting stroke.
SHAFTS
How to choose between steel or graphite?
The main advantage of graphite over steel is the lower weight of graphite will help increase your swing speed. Graphite is also very good in reducing vibration compared to steel.
What does "FF matched" mean?
It's a service of fine tuning the shafts when installed in the club heads so that the increment of frequency increase from longest to shortest clubs in the set will have exactly the same feel from club to club. This is "frequency matching."
What is a senior shaft?
Sometimes referred to as "A-flex", the senior shaft has more flex than a men's regular flex and is designed to perform better for golfers with a slower swing speed.
